By starting lets look on the typical meaning of these two words, before jumping to the general difference of them. ILLUMINAT :

The Illuminati and Freemasonry are often confused due to their secrecy and historical connections, but they are distinct organizations with different origins, goals, and structures. Here are the key differences:

Origin and History

Freemasonry: Dates back to the medieval stonemasons' guilds of Europe, officially organized in the 16th–17th centuries. It evolved into a fraternal organization focused on moral and philosophical teachings.

Illuminati: The Bavarian Illuminati was founded in 1776 by Adam Weishaupt in Germany. It was a secret society aiming to promote Enlightenment ideals, reason, and separation of church and state.

Purpose and Goals

Freemasonry: Focuses on personal development, morality, brotherhood, charity, and enlightenment through symbolic teachings.

Illuminati: Originally sought to oppose religious and governmental oppression, promoting secularism and rational thought. Conspiracy theories suggest it seeks world domination, but no credible evidence supports this.

Structure and Membership

Freemasonry: Has a structured hierarchy with lodges and grand lodges. Members advance through degrees (e.g., Apprentice, Fellow Craft, Master Mason).

Illuminati: Had a secretive and hierarchical system, but it was banned and dismantled in the late 1700s. Modern "Illuminati" groups are often internet-based hoaxes or fictionalized versions.

Secrecy and Symbolism

Freemasonry: Uses symbols like the square and compass, the All-Seeing Eye, and architectural tools to represent moral lessons.

Illuminati: Allegedly used secret signs and codes but is mainly associated with symbols like the "All-Seeing Eye" and pyramids due to conspiracy theories.

Religious Affiliation

Freemasonry: Requires belief in a Supreme Being but is not tied to any specific religion.

Illuminati: Originally promoted rationalism and secularism, opposing religious influence in governance.

Existence Today

Freemasonry: Still exists with recognized lodges worldwide, actively involved in charity and social work.

Illuminati: The historical Bavarian Illuminati was disbanded in the 1780s. Modern "Illuminati" claims are mostly myths, fiction, or internet-based movements.

NOTE THAT;-

Freemasonry is a real, existing fraternal organization with structured lodges, while the Illuminati was a secret society that was dissolved in the 18th century but lives on in conspiracy theories.
